A remedy to dry skin

My skin has a habit of drying out in the wintertime. I’ve tried combating this with routine hydrating face masks and overly fragrant night serums. While some products do work, they seem more of a temporary solution for a long-term problem. ACS_0008

I’m not sure which part of the Interwebs I had wandered off to when I read/heard about Hada Labo Gokujyun’s Super Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Lotion. Fifty clicks in, I found myself on Amazon purchasing this bottle filled with “magical” serum to be shipped from Japan.

This product took so long– like 4 weeks– to be delivered that I had completely forgotten about it by the time it arrived. But I immediately wanted to test it out. When I looked at the bottle’s instructions, everything was written in Japanese so I went straight to the reviews on Amazon to find some kind of guidance in English.

Basically, the way it works is that you have to have some kind of lotion on your face before you put this on. Since its main ingredient is hyaluronic acid, it’ll draw in moisture (Side note: In the human body, hyaluronic acid is naturally present and acts as a cushion and lubricant within joints and other tissues. Its even used in a type of lip filler).

After I wash my face at night, I squeeze 3 or 4 drops onto my palms and rub them together. Then, I pat the serum onto my face until it gets a little sticky. I wash my hands and voilà, I let the product do its thing during the night. The next morning, I could probably get away with forgoing moisturizer and using only sunscreen on my face because my skin is so hydrated from the night before.

10/10 would recommend.
