My work-day makeup essentials

Recently, I’ve been having the hardest time waking up in the mornings before work. When my ten alarms (set apart by 5 minute increments) go off, I take a few minutes to just lay in bed and mentally prepare myself for the day, the week, or whatever I have going on, etc. In exchange for these precious minutes, I’ve managed to cut my morning routine nearly in half by using the following six items:

1. Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief

I used to be an avid fan of Clinique’s dramatically different moisturizing lotion (the yellow one) but I heard great things about this so I decided to give it a try. Its usually the first thing I put on and since my skin dries out sometimes (especially in the winter), this really helps my skin stay moisturized throughout the day.

2. NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in color ‘Creme Brulee”

My irregular sleeping schedule has not only gifted me with lucid dreams, but also dark circles. This concealer doesn’t dry out the skin underneath my eyes and doesn’t settle into lines. I’m satisfied.

3. Tarte Amazonian clay 12-hour blush in color ‘Paaarty’

Anyone who’s a beauty insider at Sephora probably got this blush as part of their birthday gift last year. I’m normally really unlucky when it comes to free makeup sample gifts, but this has been a win. I love the color.

4. Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz in Dark Brown

Before I jumped on the Brow Wiz train, I used Anastasia’s Brow Definer to fill in just the outer corners of my brows. Since the Brow Wiz is much thinner, the application looks a lot more natural. Plus, the other end has a spooley (<3) which I use to brush out some of the product if it gets too heavy.

5. Aquaphor Lip Repair

Anyone who knows me knows I’m very prone to getting chapped lips. I use this in the morning and reapply whenever I remember throughout the day. Using this during the day and Vaseline on my lips at nights has been such a game-changer for me.

6. Diorshow Iconic Overcurl Mascara

Personally, I think this is the Holy Grail of mascaras. The rounded brush gives my lashes that little push they need to compete with all of the perfectly curled fake lashes out there in the world. Plus, it doesn’t run as badly as Clinique’s High Impact Mascara during a hot yoga class.
